District Final Quiz Meet

Dear Coaches and Quizzing Leaders,

This coming Saturday is our District Final Quiz meet.

Normally we have a quiz meet in March and then the final in April, but this year, this coming Saturday is the last full Quiz meet for our district.

In this event, all of the teams will be in one large bracket.  We will play a triple elimination tournament, where everyone plays everyone else.  In the end we will end up with a couple of things.
1) Top District Team.
2) Next we will have the Top Nazarene Team (goes on to Regional Level - may be the same as #1).
3) Top 16 Nazarene quizzers (goes on to Top 16 competition later in March - and then top quizzers to on to Regional level as All Star Team)
4) Top non-Nazarene quizzers (to go on to Regional level for third division competition).

You need to know if your quizzers would be willing to go to the Regional Main Event in Nampa in April.
The top 16 event is a smaller quizzing event that only involves 16 quizzers, two rooms and takes about three hours.  We are going to have it as part of the District Main Event (we can discuss this further on Saturday).
This gives quizzers selected to make this time to prepare for this event.

On Saturday we will also be voting for things like, "Most inspirational coach, quizzer, etc.  It should be a fun event.

This summer, we will have the Q2008 event in Nampa Idaho.  This is where the Nationals occur, but there are other divisions that you can compete in that do not require you make it through the Regionals process.
By going you can get a vision for what quizzing is about on a much broader basis.  I would like to see us send 30-50% of our teams to this event that has quizzers from all across the country.  It is really a national youth convention of sorts.  It sets up quizzers to understand what is possible in quizzing.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

In Christ’s Service,
James

  • We will not have an April quiz meet.  Our District Final will be on March 1st.

World Bible Quiz Meet at Trinity

Greetings to our fellow WaPac quizzers~
Are you thinking about signing up for the WBQ meet being held at Trinity Baptist in Renton on October 20th?   This is a great way to solidify your knowledge of Galatians while enjoying the fellowship of quizzers from across denominational borders, as well as some of your Naz friends!
This meet is in danger of being cancelled unless we can get more teams signed up for it before the deadline. Your prompt response would be MOST appreciated!!
We are attempting to get the Pacific Region of WBQA (which currently has no director) jumpstarted, after having experienced two canceled meets in the past two years.   For more information, as well as the registration form, please refer to the WBQA Website (www.wbqa.org) and click on the  Evergreen Tournament off to the upper right side of the page.
We are flying a WBQA Executive board member out here from Pennsylvania to officiate at the meet, as well as to share his thoughts on successful quizzing, and organization.  Chris has been involved in quizzing for many years (starting with his years as a quizzer) and has started & directed quizzing leagues.  He currently hosts the Snowflake Tournament, which is the largest WBQA tournament in the East.  He has also served as the lead quizmaster for WBQA Nationals for the past 4 years.  Should have lots of good things to share with us on many levels.
Yakima has committed to fielding a team, so there WILL be competition for you grin  We can’t have them walking away with a trophy (it will be a trophy meet)  that should go to WaPac, now can we?!  Our cooks will be preparing one of their yummy meals to provide for purchase at the meet, and there are sure to be fresh cookies and maybe even Italian sodas, as well.  How else can we entice you?!
I can bring sample questions, the primary verse list, and a copy of the rules to the Quiz Rally for any of you who are interested.
Thanks for considering this grin
